Fashion Trends For Spring by Monica- COLOUR SPLASH

Spring is here and now most of us can finally say goodbye to the Winter blues and welcome to Spring!

Last week marked the 1st day of Spring and although some parts of the world are still experiencing Winter like weather, we are seeing more and more Spring trends hitting the streets regardless of the temperature.

To get ready for the new season I have created a list of Spring must-haves to ensure a very stylish season. For the next 5 weeks we will highlight what I consider some of the most important trends, and how you can make them your own by incorporating it into your everyday lives.

First Edition: Colour Splash
Yellow, Green & Blue: I am a total pink girl, but I have to admit I’ve been cheating on pink with yellow, blue and green. The season just started and I already have 2 green bags! That is unheard of even for me but what can I say green, blue and yellow is this season’s black.

Yellow
We are definitely seeing a variety of shades of yellow right now; however the most popular and sought after shade of yellow for Spring 2014 would have to be canary yellow.

I absolutely love yellow. It looks fabulous on darker skin colors!

Wear Yellow from head to toe like blogger Wendy Nugen from Wendy’s look book blog.

Accessories are a great way to incorporate this vibrant color into your outfit.

Bags and shoes add just the right amount of pop and serve as a great option for women who don’t like wearing yellow.

Hallie from Hallie Daily, paired her yellow with black and white print, creating a chic-cheerful look, perfect for Spring.

Skirts like this make me happy, not only does it feature such a happy yellow, but it is also a Midi-skirt. Double trend points!

BlueWhether you are wearing blue in a floral print or blue from head to toe – it doesn’t even matter – as long as you are showcasing blue in one form or the other you are on trend. Blue is huge this season and it can be rocked in light or somewhat dark, as long as the shade is bright and vibrant, you are on trend.

I love blue floral, hence a blue floral bag and over-coat looks perfect over navy-blue pants and a white shirt.

Blue accessories standout and make the outfit. Here are some blue accessories that are sure to get you noticed in the crowd and Spring trend ready.

Blue flower earrings, create the perfect statement. Very Spring!

Blue will always pop against white and pink. They only complement the blue hue, making any outfit more interesting.

Every woman should own a great pair of blue suede shoes; it will totally transform your outfit.

Green
I have never really considered myself a green girl, but the shades of green being showcased this season are incredible. I am literally obsessed and I think you should be too because green has clearly made a huge impact on Spring 2014.

Whether you wear it in floral prints, in your accessories or the entire outfit, it doesn’t really matter; as long as you are sporting this seasonal color in Kelly green or a lime green, you can’t go wrong.

Like a leaf that goes with every colored flower, green works with every color, making it perfect with pretty much everything in your wardrobe.

Like the other colors being featured this season, green also adds the pop factor and has the ability to dictate the direction of an outfit.

All green looks are fresh but can be loud so try theses shades.

Ice Prince Signs Deal With The Biggest Music Corporation In The World- Universal Music Group

Chocolate City hip hop artiste Panchak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, has signed a deal with the biggest music corporation in the world, Universal Music Group. The ‘Fire of Zamani’ rapper, who said the deal has been sealed and signed but is yet to be announced officially, didn’t give full details of the  deal.

Speaking with the Pulse in a recent interview, the rapper said, ‘I recently signed with Universal Music Group. the official announcement hasn’t been made yet. They will start first with my ‘I Swear’ track, which will be licensed in the UK, after which other tracks will follow.’ The deal will have Ice Prince expanding his fan base and reaching his audience globally through international channels. 

Last November, the rapper signed an endorsement deal with telecommunication company, Etisalat, reportedly worth 20 million naira. Universal Music Group is the largest music corporation in the world. An American-based, French-owned multinational music corporation, it currently operates as a subsidiary of Paris-based media conglomerate Vivendi....

Chelsea HANDLER TO QUIT TALK SHOW

 E! Chelsea Handler will quit her US talk show when her contract expires. The 39-year-old star has hosted ‘Chelsea Lately‘ for the past eight years, where she has an average viewership of 572,000 a night, but intends to leave the programme in nine months’ time and has a number of offers for work coming in from elsewhere. 

The host’s manager Irving Azoff told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.’ Chelsea – who is believed to make around $9 million a year from the show – has previously voiced her concerns about the E! network and described it as ‘a sad, sad place to live.’ Before adding: ‘They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.’ 

A source at one company on the list to meet with her believes those remarks may affect her chance of getting work in the future. The source said: ‘When you see talent go after a network like that, you think one day it could be me.’ E! have refused to comment on the blonde beauty’s future....

16 years Old Girl Kills Her Best Friend Over Facebook Dispute

A 16-year-old girl was so outraged after a Facebook dispute that she murdered her best friend by stabbing her in the back 65 times.

Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez was furious after she received messages that alerted her to the fact that her friend had uploaded naked pictures of the pair to the social network.

She told her friend, Anel Baez, also 16, that she would be lucky to survive until the end of the year.

‘It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times,’ Gutierrez wrote to Baez via Twitter.

Laughing off Gutierrez’s threat that she would ‘bury’ her ’before the end of the year’, the unwitting Baez invited her friend to her home in Guamuchil, Mexico to patch things up.

According to local police, Gutierrez asked to use the bathroom but instead went into the kitchen where she found the knife she used to stab her friend over 60 times.

A police spokesman explained that after the murder Gutierrez tried to clean the blood from her clothes and the weapon but was unsuccessful.

Gutierrez tried to hide her role in the murder after fleeing the scene and even pretended to grieve alongside her other friends.

But following police investigations she was eventually arrested at her best friend’s funeral – keeping the sinister promise she made to see her buried before the end of the year

The singer celebrated turning 28 backstage after her Roseland Ballroom show in New York City on Friday, March 28, 2014 and her dancers sang her ‘Happy Birthday‘ before presenting her with gifts. 

According to The New York Post newspaper, presents included a pink sex toy, a riding crop and a sexy lingerie set with heart cut-outs in intimate areas. Her friend Lady Starlight, who opened the gig, gave her a cake in the shape of a giant shoe that said ‘G.U.Y.‘ – which is the name of her newest single. Gaga was also joined by artist Jeff Koons and James Franco, who posted an image of the two of them on Instagram which he captioned ‘HAPPY BDAY, GaGA!!!!‘. 

Following the show the blonde beauty spent time with boyfriend Taylor Kinney. She wrote on Twitter: ‘Another amazing birthday moment. I love surprises!’, and attached an affectionate black and white image of the pair of them where he is leaning in to kiss her while she poses for the shot. A source also overheard Starlight saying Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – would likely marry Kinney. Gaga clearly had a fabulous birthday and thanked her fans for their wishes. She tweeted: ‘Thank you so much for all my beautiful birthday wishes. I feel like luckiest girl in the world this birthday‘....

I challenge myself and others to think contemplatively and ask: who will I make peace with on Sunday, September 21, 2014,’ he told DSTV.com The ‘Hold my hand’ singer is expected to headline a concert in Goma, DRC, on this year’s Peace One Day date. The performance will enjoy multi-platform delivery in form of digital, mobile, radio and television broadcasts. 

Unifying the people of the DRC and Great Lakes on Peace Day is the primary objective of Peace One Day’s campaign in the region. The goal of the Peace One Day project in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and throughout the Great Lakes Region (GLR) is to encourage all parties to stand together in the name of peace on September 21, 2014. ‘Starting this year we aim to raise the level of awareness of, and respect for Peace Day, so as to generate a significant reduction of violence across the country on the day by 2016,’ organisers say....

How The Music Industry Ignored Zara's Plea For Help But Now Claim To Be Her Friend After Death

Photo: Facebook As the Nigerian music industry is mourning the death of one of its own Zara Gretti, a lot of criticism has been directed at her colleagues for allegedly turning their back at the singer who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis (MS). An industry sweet heart, Zara was healthy and bursting with energy and always making friends with many in the industry before her illness began. 

Zara was an eccentric talent, ready to storm the industry and was rightly tipped to, until she suddenly went off the radar. It was later revealed that she had fallen ill due to complications from multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. 

She needed help with her bills and started a fund raiser through a website – Gofundme.com. In the 10-minute video posted on the web, Zara talked about her illness and what was needed to save her; she practically begged for people to help her out of her sad and pitiable situation. ‘Now I am at the hospital again and I don’t have any kind of health insurance. And my bills are getting big so please help me. I want to come back home to Nigeria, to come and perform. I want to be around everybody I love. My friends, my family, my fans and my colleagues, so please do for me what you can,’ she tearfully pleaded in that video. 

But it seems the entire music industry gave a deaf ear to her plea. There were no campaigns, no charity causes, no plea from influential colleagues and execs. Nothing remarkable,  just a few Instagram posts by close friends. NET confirmed that numerous attempts by the singer to seek help from her colleagues were futile as many of her friends from the industry were not even picking or returning her phone calls. Information on the website opened for her fund-raising revealed that Zara needed fans and friends to contribute the sum of $23,000.00 (N3.7M). As at the time of this report, what was raised is the sum of $14,046 (N2.3M). 

But Zara has passed away and it has suddenly become fashionable to be a ‘Zara friend’. Surprisingly the social media (Twitter, Instagram and BBM) have been flooded by a slew of tributes to the late singer from the same industry that ignored her when she needed them most. ‘Funny how half the so called celebs tweeting their RIPs to Zara didn’t even contribute a dime while she was alive,’ former Cool FM OAP and artiste manager Augustus ‘BooBoo’ Aja-Onu angrily wrote on Twitter, hours after Zara’s death. A sentiment shared by others close to the late singer. 

‘Zara’s close buddies in the industry abandoned her; some are even among the reigning artistes now with endorsements and sold-out shows every day, yet they abandoned her. It was not just about giving her money, they could have created a buzz around her and people will help,’ an industry insider told NET. No names mentioned, yet. And it’s possible some celebs donated in anonymity. M.I, for example shared a screenshot of his conversation he had with the singer a day before she passed. Zara died on March 28, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria, her manager confirmed to NET. She was 28 years old....

Update On The Death Of Musician Zara - She Was Only 28years Old

NET has now confirmed the death of popular Nigerian singer Margaret Mary Oluwatoyin Ejiro Joseph better known as Zara Gretti has passed away at the age of 28. The Pop singer’s death was confirmed by her mother. A source close to NET reached Zara’s mother on Zara’s US mobile phone number. 

Her mother received the call and confirmed the sad news. ‘Her mother told me she passed away in the morning (March 28) in her home in Lagos. She sounded very sad on the phone’, our source told NET. NET also tried reaching Zara’s mother through the same line. It was switched off. NET learns Zara passed away in her Ogba-Aguda Lagos home, the same residence occupied by her grandmother. 

Our reporters paid a visit to the house on the night on March 28 at about 11PM. There were no signs of activity or response after knocking on the gate several times. Details of her death are still very sketchy but we’ve also confirmed that the singer was in Ghana a few days back to receive treatment. 

The time of death, and the hospital or morgue her body has been transferred to are still unknown. Zara died on the morning of Friday, March 28, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria, her manager confirmed to NET. She was 28 years old....

Simply stunning.

BN Style is giving you a behind the scenes look at Eva Marcille‘s shoot for the “African Inspired” show. We gave you the scoop on the docu-series hosted by the America’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner.

The show is produced by The R’ajawa Company, and will focus on African culture and its widespread influence on modern life across the globe.

Just before Eva arrived in Accra, Ghana for a cocktail event to promote the series (click here to see), a photoshoot was held in Los Angeles, California on March 1st 2014.

She is seen rocking different designer heels, huge wigs and stylish pieces. Eva is still glowing after welcoming her daughter with Kevin McCall in January.
